Come and Try Bowls

On Sunday, October 24 the Torquay club will host a Try Bowls day for anyone interested in getting involved in the sport.
The event, beginning at 10am, is aimed at newcomers who may be interested in either twilight or day bowls. It is an ideal way for people new to town, or those seeking new friendships, to become involved. On the day a one-year concessional membership will to available to encourage people to join up. One evening out could be the beginning of a lifetime of enjoyment of a great sport.

And in the issue of Wednesday-night champions, the highly successful Twilighters take to the greens again on November 3 for their annual competition, which runs until the end of April.

The Twilighters will be held from 6-8pm, with teams restricted to four members, but more than the basic four can circulate through the team over the course of the season.

Sponsored by Alcoa, Crowne Plaza, and Barry Plant Real Estate, the series has been a huge success over the past few years and numbers are swelling, so it is advisable to get your team in, or your name down as an individual player, ASAP.

On the competition bowls front, the fickle weather is making life difficult for greenkeeper Bill and the players, as we have weekly teasers of spring, only to be followed by icy blasts of winter returning.

Inside the clubhouse all is fine and warm, with our happy-hour Friday nights and best-value-in-town meals attracting excellent crowds. And why not, when a two-course meal can be had for $15 for adults and $7 for kids. Add to that the highly competitive bar prices and you are on a winner.
