Anglesea residents Annette and Bob Dwyer have been named the joint Surf Coast Shire Citizens of the Year at this year’s Australia Day ceremony in Anglesea.
Mr and Mrs Dwyer have been instrumental in a number of important community projects including the Anglesea Art Walk, Anglesea Men’s Shed and the redevelopment of the Anglesea Bowls Club.
Mrs Dwyer has also worked with organisations including the Anglesea and District Community House, Anglesea Association of Christian Churches and volunteered at the Seaside Seconds Opportunity Shop and Anglesea Information Centre.
Both are also involved in the Surf Coast Probus Club and Anglesea Bowls Club; and have generously applied their teaching skills to their volunteer work.
Surf Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Brian McKiterick, thanked Mr and Mrs Dwyer for their service to the community.
“It is always inspiring to hear of the efforts of people like Annette and Bob; who make such significant contributions to the Surf Coast community,” Cr McKiterick said.
“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to recognise their efforts and their generous gift of their skills, time and energy to the community.”
