Friday Is Walking Day In Winchelsea

Surf Coast Shire’s Maternal and Child Health Service and the Winchelsea Community House are running a weekly pram walk for mothers in Winchelsea.

It’s a great way to get out of the house, share stories, enjoy the Barwon River paths, enjoy exercise and meet people.

The weekly walks are being held on Friday mornings at 9am, starting from the Winchelsea Community House; presenting a great opportunity for mothers and young children to socialise and build connections.

Surf Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Libby Coker, said the walks provide a welcome opportunity to share good company and exercise.

“It’s really important for mothers of young children to have some time out,” Cr Coker said.  “These walks are the ideal opportunity to get exercise, share stories and rejuvenate.”

Winchelsea Community House Co-ordinator, Cathy Clark, said the walking group functioned as a support network.

“They are mothers with new babies, sharing common experiences and validating each other’s stories on parenting in a comfortable, easy-going environment,” Ms Clark said.

If you’d like to participate, call Council’s Maternal and Child Health service on 5261 0541.
