Robert Juniper ‐ Elder statesman of Australian landscape painting to visit Lorne
OPENING: Sunday 9th January 2011 TIME: 3pm
EXHIBITION DATES 9th January ‐ 30th January 2011
Qdos Arts is delighted to present an amazing evocative collection of work by one of the elder statesmen of Australian painting,
Robert Juniper. A contemporary of Fred Williams and John Olsen, Juniper has been proclaimed a living treasure in Western
Australia and beyond. His work is held in all major Australian collections. He was twice won the prestigious Wynne Prize in
Sydney and was a finalist in the Doug Moran Portrait Prize with a painting of Olsen.
Returning to Victoria after an absence of 15 years, Robert Juniper is painting, in his own words, ‘better than ever’. He is best
known for his lyrical depictions of the Western Australian landscape. Robert Juniper’s latest work follows a subtle trend to even
more delicious colour.
Juniper was in the news recently following the unveiling of stained glass windows that he designed for St. Patrick's Cathedral in
Bunbury, WA. Turning 82 in January, Juniper is looking forward to celebrating his birthday in the Surf Coast Shire.

Australia's hottest blues bands
Collard Greens & Gravy Friday 7 January
Dinner & Show $48 Book now Phone 5259 3200 or return email
The Melbourne‐based trio have established themselves as one of Australia's leading blues bands with their low‐fi, foot stomping
country blues. Collard Greens and Gravy Silver Bird album won the Best Self‐Produced CD award at the International Blues
Challenge in Memphis during February 2005. Silver Bird, the bands third album, builds on the success of More Gravy, which won
an ARIA Award in 2001 and in the same year they placed overall runner‐up at the International Blues Challenge then successfully
toured the United States.
They do what the Brits did in the 1960's; absorb the work of Delta Blues masters and synthesize those influences into their own
sound, while still upholding the tradition Eric Thom‐ Blues Revue (U.S.A) Feb 2008.
The Detonators Friday 14 January
Before Rock, there was Rockabilly, Blues and Rhythm n Blues. The Detonators, through their original songs, reinvent the styles
that made the mid to late 50s such a vital time in music’s history. They play an era, not simply a genre. Australia's leading roots
rockers release their fourth album/fifth release Top Night Out August 2007. The quartet’s original blend of blazing jump‐rock
blues is infused with the driving energy inherent in their hero’s music. Chuck Berry, Little Walter and Hound Dog Taylor are some
of the influences that give this band their distinguished sound.
Jen Cloher Friday 28 Jan

[murmur] Links Geelong To Worldwide Story Gathering Phenomenon
Some 19 ear‐shaped signs have been scattered throughout Eastern Park and Eastern Beach where [murmur] stories have been
collected. Each sign contains a code that can be sent via SMS to access memories and stories about that site. Stories are told over the
phone, allowing the listener to wander through, around and into the narrative they are listening to. The stories are those of the local
voices you hear so that the voice of [murmur] reflects the voices of Geelong. [murmur] is being delivered by the City of Greater Geelong
Arts and Culture Department as part of its three‐year Connecting Identities project, in which art is used to link diverse communities and
create a shared vision throughout the Geelong region. For more details on the project visit www.murmurgeelong.com or
